You still have time to learn how to include action steps in your content!

Nobody wants to open an email that tells you it’s too late to get in on the huge sale or that you missed their best deal yet. You want to see that you still have time to take action and grab that two-for-one special.

The same goes for any content you create, you want readers to feel like they can still take action and get involved with whatever you’re creating. Many articles and blog posts even contain a call to action to stay on their website or book them at the end of the post.

To learn more about how to incorporate action steps into your content, just keep reading. It’s not too late!

What are action steps?

Action steps are pretty much exactly what they sound like; steps you take to make sure your viewers take action with your content. Whether it be a blog post or a tweet, you want your audience to engage with it whenever you post something.

Think about the emails you get from your favorite stores telling you they have a special deal just for you, or even job sites saying they have a new opportunity for you. They’re all using action steps to get you to open their email and engage with their content.

You’re much more likely to open an email that’s telling you you have boundless opportunities ahead over an email that says you missed out, right?

Even companies use this marketing strategy on their social media platforms, like Twitter and Instagram. McDonald’s partnered with popular K-pop band BTS and tweeted out a zoomed-in picture of one of the band’s members eating a happy meal. Their followers then had to reply to the tweet to guess which member of the band it was.

This resulted in their Twitter followers engaging with their content in a fun way.

Action steps and user engagement

Engagement is the main goal of actionable content, you want people to come back to your content and remember you.

Not only will this help out your business, but it will also help your readers or viewers. Engaging with your audience will create a positive experience for them. This, in turn, will gain you a loyal following and drive up traffic to your website or page.

If you create a positive experience for your audience to interact with, it will increase your engagement as a whole. When your audience can easily interact with your posts, it creates a better and smoother user experience for them.

Including a call to action at the end of your post, especially if you’re writing a blog post or article, can help to keep people coming back. Have you ever read an article that ended with a paragraph asking the reader to check out other posts from their website? That’s a CTA.

CTA’s ask the reader to do something, like check back in on your website. They should be direct and clear on what you want the reader to do. They usually appear at the end of your article or blog post, or in the subject of your email.

Writing a call to action

Writing a call to action is actually really easy. They’re normally only around 100 words and just ask the reader to take some sort of action.

While it might seem intimidating to ask something of your readers, just remember to go about it with confidence. You know your offer is valuable, so there’s no shame in asking other people to take you up on it!

When you engage with your readers, they’re most likely thinking about how helpful your content is to them, so they’re excited to come back for more.

Highlight the strengths of your content that will keep people coming back. For example, if you want people to re-visit your pop culture blog, your CTA might look something like this:

Stay up to date with all the latest celebrity news and pop culture moments as soon as they happen! Click to subscribe (you’ll never miss what’s trending again!).

Be sure to be clear and engaging. You don’t want to confuse the reader, or they won’t act on your offer.

Other tips to get readers to take action

Besides a call to action, there are other ways to engage readers. There are a lot of tips and strategies you can use to get readers to take action with your content.

Content marketing strategies can include just knowing your audience, and writing for them. It sounds simple because it is; as long as you write with a clear purpose for your audience and what you want to create for them, you’ll attract readers.

Once you have them on the hook, you can add a CTA to get them coming back for more.

There are a lot of ways to make your content actionable for your audience, so hopefully, this blog inspired you to use some in your content. Not only will it be beneficial on your end, by boosting engagement and bringing traffic to your site, it will also give your audience a way to interact.
